Megan Ellman, M.D., Medical Director

Dr. Megan Ellman was born in the small town of
Dubuque, Iowa. While she only lived there until age four, she frequently visits relatives and will always consider herself to be a small-town person. She then spent most of her childhood in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where she lived in a suburb of Seattle and, for as long as she can remember, Dr. Ellman has wanted to be a physician. Her thirst for scientific knowledge and her desire to care for others made medicine the perfect fit.

Dr. Ellman attended the
University of California Santa Barbara where she earned a BA in Biology and minored in Art History. In addition, she earned a Community Service Award for her exceptional volunteerism. Dr. Ellman then headed back to Seattle where she earned a medical degree at the University of Washington and received the highest medical honor of Alpha Omega Alpha. To pursue her passion for women's health, Dr. Ellman conducted Breast Cancer Research at University of Washington and received a grant from American Cancer Society for her contributions to the field. Dr. Ellman also spent a year doing scientific research in the field of neurochemistry at the prestigious Scripps Institute in San Diego.

Dr. Megan Ellman recently completed an internal medicine residency at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara where she worked with the both indigent and well-served populations. She rotated through many medical specialties and her favorites included cardiology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, and rheumatology.

In her free time Dr. Ellman enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and hiking. She lives on the Central Coast with her husband Chad and their daughter Natalie and you may frequently find them walking along the beach or enjoying the farmer's market. She and her husband are lovers of the arts and avid theatre goers and they have recently become members of the Cal Poly Arts Association.

Dr. Megan Ellman is board certified in internal medicine. She is well versed in caring for patients with diabetes, heart disease, and other complex medical problems. Dr. Ellman's care for her patients is unyielding and she is impassioned about primary care, preventative medicine, and women's health. Her inspirational thirst for scientific knowledge and the care for others are present to this day. She enjoys teaching patients about their illness and treatment options, as well as developing long-term relationships with them, and she is delighted to be a part of the medical community on the beautiful Central Coast.
